The Danish
Design Centre wanted to inject warmth and presence into
the atrium, the heart of the centre, as the space appeared cold
and uninviting.
The architectural lines and movements of the space inspired the
creation of the piece and its integration within the space. A large
stair, that runs along the wall, formed the basis for the motif.
Its oblique line up through the space creates a dynamic movement
that connects the ground floor with the first floor. At the same
time the wall built (in the space) at an oblique angle on the ground
plan makes the dynamic movement noticeable.
The dynamic movement is transferred to the piece, the motif underlines
the Architectural lines and one is led up the stair. At first sight,
the piece looks like a painting, but close up one discovers the
braiding, the tactile and the craftsmanship. The textile and the
joyful, redish palet of the piece softens the cold impression evoked
by materials in the space and accomodates the audience.
