The wool is 100% Australian, biodynamic, merino
wool – Demeter certified KbT, by IVN, Germany. The sheep are
bred under biodynamic control. The soaps and spinnings oils used
are bio-degrable. The wool is not super-washed and no moth repellents
are used. The dyes used do not contain heavy metals. The textile
is woven, then milled without soap in cold water only. The sewing
thread is 100% cotton, the label is 100% polyester, both in Eco-Tex
standard 100. This product is made in Denmark.
WASHING
One of the good qualities of wool is that it can be aired as a form
of cleaning. Dew and frost are especially good. It is recommendable
to use an environment friendly wool detergent when washing. Wash
the product in lukewarm water in a bath or a large tub. Soak it
and leave it in the water for 15-30 minutes. Wash it by pressing,
not rubbing, as the wool felts and causes the product to diminish.
Rinse thoroughly and press the water out, then spin dry briefly
and lay or hang it to dry. It can withstand steam-ironing.
STAINS
One can also remove small stains, coffee stains and the like by
using a transparent environment friendly washing-up liquid without
any colors. Wet the area, drip the washing-up liquid on the area
in question without rubbing it in, leave it for 30 minutes, rinse
without rubbing too much, then allow it to dry.
The product can be cleaned, but that is not to be recommended as
it pollutes our environment.
STORAGE
If the product is to be stored for a longer period it should be
put in a tightly sealed plastic bag along with a piece cedar wood
to avoid the possibility of moths. Cedar wood pieces can be bought
in a health food shop.
FLUFFINESS
The wool becomes fluffy. If it disturbs the visual impression the
fluff can be removed by shaving the surface or by brushing it with
an ordinary comb or brush. There is nothing wrong with the product.
Fluffiness is a natural healthy process for clean wool and biodynamic
wool is clean. It is not super-washed, a process that encapsulates
the fibre in a chemical film so that it is enclosed and unable to
felt. It is clever but it pollutes our environment.
RECYCLING
The product can be recycled if it is worn or one no longer wishes
to possess it. It can be handed in to a thrift shop for example
or to a company that unravels the wool to reuse it for a new yarn
or to fill a soft toy and something similar.
